blue faces, red noses

Alvaro Tapia Hidalgo is a cool Chilean graphic designer/filmmaker/illustrator now based in Granada, Spain.

“I am inspired mainly by film, by classic icons of B movies, horror films or cult films, classic film muses and memorable scenes. I also find inspiration in artists of the different disciplines that I admire, plastic artists, musicians, writers, films directors, etc. In general, I am inspired by the different forms of expression that people use, the way they dress or wear their hair, etc. I like to reach a counterpoint between fashion and what is grotesque, sinister or perverse.”

His illustration work is so huge that it was hard to make a decision about what I like the most. LOVE IT. His use of traditional watercolor spots, rough backdrop and then the transparent couleur vector-based fields on top of it. unique style!
