Poison and Passion

today, after a long time not writing, I just want to share these amazing snake and watch images made by swiss photographer Guido Mocafico, who is nowadays based in Paris. His entire work is great and you should look at his page to see more. I came across one of his books a few years ago in Paris but never wrote down the name and lost site of him, but images move around the web so fast, so that I found him again a while ago and now it is time to share it with you.

Guido Mocafico is photographing often his work with a black backdrop, which is pushing the viewer more to look on the pattern, the couleur and the esthetic of his subjects. He is seen as a specialist in still life and he works regularly for international magazines.

I picked the work “SERPENTS” and “MOVEMENT” because of the beauty of nature and the beauty of craftmanship. above the snakes in a not visible box showing the greatness and variety of their patterns and couleur pallette and below the unbelievable accuracy and precision of small watches. Poison and Passion!

couleurful bodys around town

I do not know lots of stuff in the wide field of dance but it is steady growing. But a friend send me this and it is mainly cos of the couleurs, which I normally always attracted to. But this first impression is not anymore a reason why I blog about something. There are also many things in our surrounding, who are couleurful but in a bad way.

But lets focus now on the good interesting examples of couleurs and the use of bodies in space from Cie. Willi Dorner. This name is the name of a dance company founded by Willi Dorner in 1999 in Vienna/Austria.

Besides his international touring dance performances Willi Dorner is keen on creating events that give the audience the opportunity for new experiences, insights and a different perception of every day’s life. Furniture pieces, like a chair or table, are used much differently than in real life. Dorner wants us to see “if we can give it a different meaning.”

His interdisciplinary works are developed in cooperation with artists and scientists of different fields. His work was co-produced by lots of festivals and venues.

lovely beetles

I like porcelain and animals, but I think most of us do! today I just want to share some nice works in this field. These beetles are made by the two German artists Beate Reinheimer and Ulrike Rehm, known under the name RaR- esthablished in 2010. All of these porcelain beetles are each couleured and glazed with a different effect and are actually  wall.mounted vases that measure between 29 and 37cm in length. The collection is made for Thomas Eyck, a wonderful dutch publisher and distributer of characteristic and exclusive contemporary design products.

Keywords in the philosophy off his company are: care, attention and love for material, technique and design.

Thomas Eyck works together with designers of his own choice. In his view the union of design and material, and a careful process of product development from the first idea until the `finishing touch´ are very important. The collection of Thomas Eyck will develop slowly by commissioning one carefully chosen designer to design a series of products each year. Material and techniques will be chosen with the utmost care, and the company will only cooperate with the best craftsmen and producers. In this way limited series of products in different materials will be created.

what a blue

The Majorelle Garden  is a botanical garden and artist’s landscape garden in Marrakech, Morocco. It was designed by the expatriate French artist Jacques Majorelle in 1924, during the colonial period when Morocco was a protectorate of France.

Contrasts, the colors, the light games seem go out of one of the pictures of Jacques Majorelle. It was one of the more important collectors of plants of his era, and this is in this spirit than enlarges itself from day to day the flore of the garden. Plants of the five continents are exposed in an enchanting framework. This that was the workshop of Jacques Majorelle, inspiration place and of contemplation, shelters today the magnificent art collection Islamic of Pierre Bergé and Yves Saint Laurent. The originality of these places lies in the combination of a luxurious végétation and architectural elements allying sobriété and traditional aesthetic Moroccan. The power of the blue Majorelle participates in the freshness impression and of quiétude.

this blue shines definitely one in the moroccan sun with this beauty!

beautiful beast

A year ago, Europe and the world realized that they cannot fight against nature and had to stop flying planes for some days, which created an immense chaos in the world. Luckily I was not affected by it. But this video shows in a nice way, the beauty of the erupting Eyjafjallajökull Volcano in Island.

View it on fullscreen… so it will be even more spectacular.

” Better Life, Better City”

After my first researches for the extravagant Pavillions at the EXPO 2010 in Shanghai, I found the UK Pavillion made by Thomas Heatherwick Studio really amazing and it is standing out of all of the others Pavillions. The EXPO 2010 ” Better City, Better Life” will start at the 1.May and will last until 31. October 2010

The Seed Cathedral sits in the centre of the UK Pavilion’s site, 20 metres in height, formed from 60,000 slender transparent fibre optic rods, each 7.5 metres long and each encasing one or more seeds at its tip. During the day, they draw daylight inwards to illuminate the interior. At night, light sources at the interior end of each rod will allow the whole structure to glow from the outside.. As the wind moves past, the building and its optic “hairs” gently move to create a dynamic effect.

The Idea for this Pavillion is described by Heatherwick as following:

The UK, with its millions of gardens, thousands of public parks and garden squares, has pioneered the integration of nature into cities as a way of making them healthier places, in which to live and work. The UK pavilion encourages visitors to look again at the role of nature and wonder whether it could be used to solve the current social, economic and environmental challenges of our cities.

You can see all other pavillions at designboom site and make yourself an own opinion.

green porno

Hier also vier, der acht Kurzfilme

the beauty coming from the north
