Now that is something I haven’t seen before in such an intensity. Yulia Brodskaya‘s work with the material paper is extraordinaire beautiful. She was born in Russia and moved then to the UK and there explored several fields: Textile Painting, Origami and Collage to more traditional Fine Art practices. But after years of experimenting and doing an MA in Graphic Communication Yulia Brodskaya figured out her own way: typography, paper, and highly detailed hand-made craft objects.
Especially her art pieces, where she illustrates old people is incredible. Normally she is more involved in doing illustration for a huge and impressive client list.
I believe that one of the main reasons I enjoy the paper craft, is due to my love of the material: paper. Although I’ve always had a special fascination for paper, it has taken me a while to find my own way of working with it; and then it took a little longer to find out that the technique I have been using so intensively is called quilling – it involves the use of strips of paper that can be rolled, shaped, and glued to the background.
