Nothing new and also nothing super special, but still me as a lover for minimalistic art like his work and he is one of the few, who does this kind of transforming spaces with geometric shapes in such a radical way and already for several years, even the whole effect is simple.

Swiss artist Felice Varini is know for his large-scale projections of geometric forms onto rooms and exterior spaces. His latest work at the Grand Palais in Paris ( images with the orange tape) went up just last month and of course he works with projectors and stencils to create his artwork that only appears proportional when seen from a specific viewpoint.

The brighter it gets outside, the more dark couleurs and even black I am wearing. And this is also my first time that I post an article more or less completely in black. But this short movie Pianoworks 13  combines beautiful live action and motion design directed by Julien Martorell with simple piano music by Polerik Rouviere. Four dancers perform different styles, illustrating the link between body, instrument and instrumentalist. The moves give birth to a sort of calligraphic language which is a representation of the moves themselves.

This is First Taste, a video created by Saatchi & Saatchi and Heckler for TEDxSydney 2013. It’s slo-mo footage of kids eating a variety of foods for the very first time, and it’s probably the cutest thing we’ve ever seen ever. LOVE IT and the children’s reactions, watch it on whole screen.

Today’s post is about someone big when it comes to package fashion products. Marc Atlan is a french-born american creative director based in Los Angeles and the founder of “MARC ATLAN DESIGN, INC.” where he conceptualizes everything you need for creating a good corporate design such as perfume bottles and packaging, ad campaigns and catalogues, logos and brand identities, magazine designs as well as store displays, events, installations & tv commercials. His client list is huge and most known for sure are his flacons, ads for Comme des Garcons, Tom Ford and Martin Margiela.

After several times passing JR’s art next to my atelier and on my way home, it finally time to write again about him. Last time in 2010 I wrote about him:

JR owns the biggest art gallery in the world. He exhibits freely in the streets of the world, catching the attention of people who do not visit museum. His work mixes art and action, talks about commitment, freedom, identity and limit. After he found a camera in the Paris subway, he did a tour of European Street Art, tracking the people who communicate messages via the walls.

and now he has done his new huge show “The Wrinkles of the City” where he clued 17 huge Paste-Ups all around our beautiful city Berlin and also has a at the Galerie Henrik Springmann till  Mai, 25th. More about the concept behind this show is seen in the video below.

Doris Freigofas and Daniel Dolz are GOLDEN COSMOS. the young Berlin based duo has worked for many famous clients such as New York Times, Die Zeit und Büchegilde Gutenberg. Their couleurful illustrations are often screen printed and even the figures are reduced the wholes stories they tell are a couleurful bunch of beauty. Their work has been exhibited and awarded already serveral times internationally. There are so many nice samples of their work on the website, but I am totally in love with “High Times”, a totally illustrated book about the history of aviation. Love it, so beautiful.

Daniel Ramirez Perez is a young Berlin all around designer talent. One side he works as an art director for M&C Saatchi, which would be sufficient for several people, but not him, because the moment he gets of work his passions start and he spends his evenings and nights working with Celina Böning on the menswear label Yarden, which I presented to you in january. But that is not enough.

Mister Ramirez Perez also does beautiful hand drawn illustrations for several well established clients such as Deutsche Bahn, Gruner&Jahr, Fräulein Magazin and Volksbühne Berlin, to name a few. I really like his “digital-looking” illustrations which are only slightly modified with the tools on the computer and are mainly purely a hand job.

I am looking forward to see, hear, wear more from Daniel Ramirez Perez and I am sure his career will kick off immensely in the near following years.

Everyday items such as toys and a watering can are 3D scanned using a digital camera and subjected to algorithms that distort, abstract and taint them into new primordial vessel forms. In some cases only close inspection reveals traces inherited from their physical predecessors. These are then 3D printed on a z-corp printer.

Vessels are arguably the lowest common denominator for man-made objects across all cultures, these objects however have no storage function other than to embody the stored digital data that describes them, but he also worked with an ongoing exploration of derivatives of a 3D scan of Mickey Mouse. The choice of character also raises issues of potential clashes with big copyright holders that could potentially choose to lobby for legislation against 3D scanning.

Morbid charm with a beautiful couleur palette onto huge walls and buildings, that is the art of the young Spanish muralist and fine artist, Aryz. His work flashes me and I think he transforms grey urban walls in the best way possible into art spaces. With his paintings, mainly influenced by the interest of what lays behind the surface of a creature with a comic book characteristics and detailed texture rarely seen on six stories of concrete, he creates astonishing art and is more and more recognized and gets collective attention of what he will do next with his “contemporary muralism”. Hope we get also some murals in Berlin from him.
