rest in peace you great master

He was one of the painters I was already a huge fan when I was a child, then I collected some book and always loves to see his work in museums. Lucian Freud was a great and good British painter , who died yesterday in the age of 83.

He was known for his patience and the time he took for one object and he demanded the model’s presence even while working on subsidiary elements, to know everything from them, so that he can put all the impressions into the painting and sometimes the critics were worried about the relationship towards the models. Lucian Freud’s work has a huge range of subjects but mostly he is known for his thickly impasted portrait and figure paintings. Freud was apt to spend a great deal of time with one subject, and demanded the model’s presence even while working on subsidiary elements.

and what I find funny is the fact that the heritage will be hard to share, cos he was not only married a few times, but he also has more than 15 children ( rumours say he has more than 35!!!)

I paint people, not because of what they are like, not exactly in spite of what they are like, but how they happen to be.” ( via wikipedia)

here you can see a good documentation about his work ( only in german)

and here also a marvelous english documentary
